Now that baby number 2 is on the way, I'm overwhelmed and excited by the wide range of products that are now available on the market made especially for babies. 9 years ago when I had Nathan, there were only quite a few variety to choose from, most of them are quite pricey and are only available abroad. I've been very picky with the products I used on Nathan, only one thing comes to mind, IS IT SAFE?
When I was younger, my mom avoided using baby powders on us due to rumors that it gives kids allergies. It was never proven but my mom avoided it altogether just to be sure. Back then, they didn't have google to double check every product's content if its safe to use, that's probably why it was easier to believe in rumors rather than validate it.
But now, we millenial moms have the entire WorldWideWeb right at the tip of our fingers to search for what's best for our children. In just a few clicks, we become aware of the harmful chemicals that can possibly put our kids' health at risk, terms like paraben free, gluten free become familiar to us. Oh how lucky are we, gazillion of information widely available for everyone's consumption.
I've always loved using baby powders and how instantly fresh it made me feel. I can still vividly remember the feeling it gives me whenever it touches my skin. Back in my childhood days, after playing under the sun, my mom would towel dry my sweaty back and dash it with baby powder, I feel and smell fresh in an instant. That was before my mom decided to quit using baby powders on us. When I became a mom myself, I felt a bit queasy applying baby powder on Nathan, he was allergic to alot of things when he was younger, dust, heat, and what not. I even changed his diet to make sure it clears the possibilites of triggering any allergies. I didn't want him to rely on medications to rid of coughing and sneezing that usually came every time the weather changes. Using baby powder was a no no. Not that it was proven to be allergic but I guess my mom's qualms about using baby powder kinda rubbed off on me.
Finding out about Belo Baby's new "baby" got me all worked up. Their new talc- free powder is made of certified natural finely milled-rice and maize, carefully formulated without talc, gluten, phthalates, parabens, dyes and most common allergens. It is hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested. In short, it is safe to use!
Thankfully, Nathan outgrew most of his allergies and I'm so happy to have encountered a product that is actually safe to use for our children. I can now give him the same fresh feeling it used to give me as a kid. The best part is, its locally made and is widely available in the market.
I know we moms only want what's best for our kids, that is definitely a non-negotiable. Their health and well-being always come first.
